Eve Double Plus: Planned commercial launch date (opening order book) is Q4 2025.
What's the big news from Alfen at Smarter-E this year?
We're excited to launch our new "Eve Single Plus and Eve Double Plus" range, showcasing our commitment to future-proof EV charging.
What makes the "Eve Single Plus and Eve Double Plus" models stand out?
All "Eve Single Plus and Eve Double Plus" chargers are "Hardware ready for interoperable V2G" meaning they are equipped to support bidirectional charging functionalities in the future regardless of car brand. The products also have the necessary hardware for authorization based on ISO15118 communication such as ISO15118-20 Plug & Charge and AutoCharge.
What are the hardware differences between Pro-line and Plus?
New ISO15118-ready hardware, new 7” IPS color display with a higher resolution and with 1000 Nits 2.5x as bright: readable in sun light, improved hardware for daisy chaining and SCN setups, with design updates to match with our new Plus line models i.e. front socket assembly in darker colour, smaller RFID logo. For the Eve Double Plus we will also be introducing a variant with 2 fixed charging cables (4m spiral cable).
Will Plus include the same features as current Pro-line?
Specific features (i.e. Modbus EMS) will be available later as a firmware update.
Does it support V2G?
Hardware ready for bidirectional V2G based on ISO15118-20 AMD1. Support for V2X on Eichrecht variants uncertain as this is not defined/specified under the Eichrecht certification yet.
Does it support ISO15118?
Hardware ready for ISO15118-20, ISO15118-1/5 supported.
Will Pro-line and Plus be sold in parallel for a certain period?
Yes, until existing stock is depleted.
Which variants will be available for ordering at launch?
EU T2, EU T2S, EU Cable (2x4m spiral cable), DE T2, DE Cable (2x4m spiral cable, connected ex-factory).
What does "Hardware ready for interoperable V2G" mean for customers?
It means our chargers are equipped with the essential hardware to enable seamless communication and interaction with the grid for Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications, ensuring they are prepared for this evolving technology like we already have since 2022 in our Twin 5 line-up. With interoperable we refer to using standardized communication between the EV and charging station (based on ISO15118-20 AMD1) and between the charging station and the charge point management system (based on OCPP2.X). This enables the use of our solution with any EV and with any CPMS if the EV and CPMS fully comply to these standards. This allows for an open V2X ecosystem rather than providing a proprietary or closed system which only works with specific EVs or with a specific CPMS. Compliancy to upcoming harmonized European grid codes is ensured by implementing hardware for all relevant grid monitoring functionalities inside the charging station.
Can you give us an idea of the pricing for the new "Eve Plus" range?
Specific pricing for the "Eve Single and Eve Double Plus" models will be available closer to the official market launch in 2025. But pricing will be in line with our current line-up and we plan to release a detailed price list and ordering information in the lead-up to the Commercial Product Launch.
What about the development and testing of the new features?
We are actively working on and rigorously testing the software and hardware updates needed to ensure our chargers meet the required communication and security standards.
What is Alfen's overall commitment to the EV charging market?
We are committed to delivering smart, reliable, robust and safe EV charging solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and contribute to a sustainable mobility ecosystem.
